SFP finished

Finished the student film project last week. Can't really say it turned out to be anything but crap. Me and Espen had to turn it all into a trailer cause the only shots we had was the ones we had made. Sebastian never finished his Shots.

But anyways...
Now we are doing a "making of" of the movie/trailer, and writing a self assessment report. Hopefully this will go smoothly.

All my shots done!

Finished animating my part of the shots yesterday and sent them to Espen for rendering (for some reason my school computer does not want to render anything, and when it does it's only single frames and it's slow as hell). As far as I know Espen is also finished with his part of the animation.

Tried to get in touch with Sebastian to find out where he was at with his part of the animation, and maybe take over a couple of his shots in case he had a lot left, but he never answered. Haven't really talked to him for weeks, and the few times I've got a hold of him lately I haven't really gotten any clear answers from him, which kinda sucks. I haven't physically seen him nor Espen, and had a face to face talk with them, for about two or three weeks, which is ridiculous. We all go to the same school.

Communication

It's basically all going to hell. We are running out of time and it seems like one person in the group has more or less given up and lost all interest in trying to finish the project. The other one in the group never really says where he's at or how far he's got in the project - well, none of them really do - and I feel like I constantly need ask them how they are doing and dig for information and it's making me tired. I am the only one in the group who has regularly been to school this last part of the project, and I feel slightly left in the dark (or something like that). I feel like saying "fuck'em!" and go on by myself, but I would probably just end up fucking myself over at the same time.

The group - my group - lacks communication. Big time.

It is evident when you look at the other groups working on their films. Pretty much every day all of the members of the other groups - or most of them - are working together on their project at school. Discussing, planing, making and changing files easily because they are all in the same room. Almost never have I seen a member of another group sit alone in the working hours of the day.

It sucks to sit there alone and be aware of all of this. And it seems like I am the only member in my group that wants to do something about it (the communication issues).

Really got nothing more to say, I'm kinda at a loss for words...

Worried and very stressed

Really not much time left and we are a little behind. I'm starting to worry if we are going to make it or not. Well... we are probably going to make it, but I'm still stressed. Got the Teesside interview tomorrow which got me both nervous and stressed. I got a job interview the day after that (I really need a summer job), stress, and my sister is having her confirmation/recognition ceremony/party this weekend, which isn't that stressful (except for meeting family members you don't remember the names of) but takes time away from the assignment, which helps build stress in that area.

Burger shop letters

I suddenly realized that I had forgot to the design of the letters that would say; Target Burger, on top of the shop. It just got lost in all the other things I've been doing on the prodject. It's small detail and it's just shown in one little shot at the beginning of the movie, but you really notice the difference from when it's not there and when it is.

Since I didn't notice my own fault until this late, I didn't really have time to make a design of my own so I just opened Word and started loking at the different types of text and ended up whit a page like this:

I really liked the second from the bottom, though I landed on the second from the top 'cause it just worked better whit the style my group is going for.

Made a little bird. Took me a about an hour or something. Modeled it out of a sphere (which is a ball).




























The bird is a part of the establishing shot where it's supposed to fly and crash into the burger sign.

I'm in the making of a sign that's going to stand out in front of the burger shop. Not to difficult to model so its easy, fun work. Here's a pic.














By the way, the burger shop is named Target Burger, hence, the target.

Animatic; first draft

Great success! First draft of the animatic is done! And yes, of course it looks awsome!

Today Sebastian put all the storyboard shots into premiere and together we tried to time them. We are going to look at it again tomorrow and try to add some sounds.

Getting started

Ok, I'm starting this blog a little late, but better late then never.

My name is Bendik Holm Bottolfsen, and I'm a part of the group Playground Productions, with the two other members Sebastian Yttermo and Espen Wisur.
We are working together on our final project on our second year at the 3D film production cours at Noroff.

Just to let you catch up with what I've been doing so far, I can tell you that I am the conceptual designer on the group I'm in, and that I've been drawing a shitload of stuff. Lately it's been mostly storyboard (just to brag, I have in fact drawn all of the storyboard :D... except for the last frame which Sebastian on my group was so kind as to do :P)

Our story started with an Idea by Sebastian about a loser fastfood emploee, and just kept getting bigger. Me and Sebastian soon took control over the story development, and sat down to talk about what could happen in it, since Espen rather wanted to start doing CG testing. And after a couple of drafts (six or seven I think) the story was more or less done. Sebastian did all the writing (my hands don't agree with the keyboard).

After that Me and Sebastian sat down to create the storyboard. We discussed angles and stuff, and created thumbnails together and then I drew the finished frames. During this process we went over the story a lot and made some changes, and finaly yesterday we finished the storyboard. Wooohoo!! (Sebastian has a little more about the storyboard on his blog).

Now all we have to do is to put together an animatic, ship it of to a friend of Sebastian who might be able to compose the music and then we can start working on the previz and and som simple modeling and then we can start the real modeling and then we can start the skinning and then we can start the rigging, oh shit, I've forgot texturing, and then we can start animating and then we can start rendering and then we can start editing and then we can start....

shit....
